Fanfiction: Punch Out!
Glass Joe´s POV

"Are you ready?" sounded from behind the door. "Just a moment," I called back and tilted my head. It doesn´t look well. The match begins in the minute. With a sigh I took a little more gel in my hands.

"Oh my God," screamed Mac behind me so unexpectedly that I nearly jumped out of the skin. "You GEL your hair? '" Hm." It sounded like I was committing a federal crime. "Do you think that it looks like this on its own?" I asked sharply.

"You´re about to go into the ring and you are doing hairdo?" Mac was truly taken aback. "When I have to loose then tastefully at least," I said seemingly nonchalant, but my knees trembled. My opponent for today - Bear Hugger, will probably wipe ring with me. I added little more extra thick hardener into hair. Just in case.  They say it´d withstand tornado. Hm...

Mac spitted and pat me on the shoulder so hard that I nearly crashed head in the mirror. "You should rather do some warm-up, he advised me." Bear Hugger said that he´ll rearrange your smile. I hope you don´t have any special favourite tooth."

I looked at him nervously." You've kidding me, right?" He grinned and shrugged. "Not really, he seriously said it." Shit. I looked in the mirror again. My teeth?

"Let´s go, it´s staring in moment." Damn. My Teeth? My knees were trembling. "Why he wants to smash my teeth?" I whined. "I didn´t do anything!"

Mac shrugged and went to the door. "You know that Canadian is weird." I followed with uncertain steps. Bear Hugger is already in the ring and waving to the audience. Shit. I´m a dead man. When he hits me by that paw, I won´t lose the teeth but the whole head.

"Finally you´re here!" Yelled coach in my ear and dragged me to the ring. "Remember, Bear has often exposed ..." I didn´t pay much attention to list of Bear´s weaknesses, rather I concentrated on walking. One foot before the other...

"Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to your favourite club Punch Out!! Only here you can see tough guys from all around the world in one ring! Tonight we have a special event! ..."

Shit. I´m done. Lately I wasn´t in best form for some reason and now I´ve received Bear Hugger? I have no chance. Damn...

Gong announcing the first round intruded me from grim thoughts. Bear Hugger tried right hook without hesitation. My teeth! I violently thrown myself to the ground. Hugger´s shot flew over me. I jumped to my feet just in time for me to avoid next low hit.

Damn! Hugger shouted and jumped at me. I miraculously managed to avoid his fist. How did I deserve this...

I tried to answer with left hook. Despite being so huge Canadian´s quite good in dodging. Right then he punched me so that I ended up in the ropes.

"Bear-Hugger! Bear-Hugger! "Yelled the audience. Even they are against me. I tried to gain balance. Hugger went on the attack.

Again, I cringed. Too late. The last thing I saw was a huge Canadian´s paw approaching the side of my head.

"One! Two! Three! K.O.! Bear Hugger wins! "

Mac laughed and shook his head. It didn´t last long today. Poor Joe. But who cares. It´s his own fault. If he´s such a poor boxer, he should give it up and find a different job. Maybe in the hair salon. To gel your hair. What a wretch.

Mac began to push through the crowd to the exit, to get a little breath of fresh air before his own match. When walking around a couple of regular guests, he caught a piece of their conversation. Guys just made bets on whether is Joe getting to his feet today, or will be cold for the rest of week after Hugger´s KO.

Sure enough, Mac thought with a grin, as he walked out the back door. As if Joe had enough sense to sleep for week. Tomorrow he´ll be again in the ring. Why he likes so much to bet beaten?
